The Festival gets off to a great start with free events at two venues ... music from 2pm to 5pm at the Clock Park Tent and a couple of 'must see' Artists @ Acadia at the Irving Centre.

Clock Park Tent: The Dungaree Brothers, Chas Guay, Danny Michel, Ariana Gillis and Mike Aubé.

The Irving Centre: 'Many Roots, Many Branches: A Journey through American Roots Music' with Michael Jerome Browne and then at 3pm, explore 'Literacy and Authentic Expression through Music and Poetry' with Kinnie Starr.

Saturday promises to be a full and uplifting day ... all kinds of free workshops and events, starting in the morning with opportunities to create, play and prepare for the Fresh Beats Rhythm Parade at 12 noon (check out the 'Fresh Beats Rhythm Parade and More' page for details).

Free concerts start at 10am at Farmer's Market - Andy & Ariana, Mi'kmaq Youth, Lovestorm, Ryan Roberts, Mike Aubé, Mike Milne, then the beat moves over to the Clock Park Tent, at 1pm with emerging artists hosted by Jenny MacDonald, Mi'kmaq Song & Dance Workshop.

Also at the Clock Park Tent at 3:30pm, 'My Roots are Showing' with Kinnie Starr and Digging Roots; also at 3:30pm in the McKeen Room, it's free music - contra dancing included! Join MC Shannon Lynch and Lake of Stew for a lot of fun.
